    May God bless,

    If you can breathe, . . . thank God.

    If you can read, . . . thank a teacher.

    If you can read in English, . . . thank a veteran.

    The typical American has become hostile and inimical to forgiveness; they no longer do it, and that is a marked change in the psyche of this nation. I still forgive when I can, but I have noted the hostile nature of so many, and I keep it in mind. Forgive us our trespasses, is now viewed as weakness; it is a stunning turn, at least to me it is. It presages something that will be awful, and an inversion of the Beatitudes is transpiring before my eyes. But, I must forgive when possible, that is the bottom line, and let the hateful be damned to Hell. God sorts it out in the end, and I am at peace with that. {PS: I know that I am blunt, and forceful, but it is for my own sanity that I do it.}
    “He had been all things, and all was of little value.” Said of Severus Emperor of Rome.

    (As quoted by Gibbons, in Decline of the Roman Empire.)
