    A failed experiment

About a year ago, Mrs Inor and I decided to start making our own laundry soap and dishwasher soap. The laundry soap has worked out well and we are saving a bunch of money not buying commercial laundry detergent. But the dishwasher soap is another matter. The recipes we have tried all use citric acid as the main ingredient. But the dishes just do not come out as clean and we end up having to re-wash them. We have tried many variations, adding more citric acid, adding more 20 Mule Team Borax, etc. But none of them seem to work as well as the store bought liquid.

So today, we have decided to throw in the towel and go back to commercial brands. It is unfortunate because if we could have made it work, we could have saved about $20 per month. But when it does not work, it does not work.

I hate admitting defeat. But oh well...

The crackhead will steal your shit and bounce--the tweaker will steal your shit and then help you look for it.

    1 cup borax
    1 cup washing soda
    ½ cup kosher salt
    5 teaspoons unsweetened lemonade mix
1 DROP dish soap - not one squirt, one DROP

Use vinegar in the rinse compartment instead of that expensive stuff

Thanks! You da man! Well, you know what I mean.

It kills me to spend all that money on commercial dish soap. This is awesome! Thanks!

When you're in the field, ashes from your fire will do an acceptable job of substituting soap for dish and laundry service. The commercial soaps cannot be beat. The 20 bucks is well worth spending to save yourself the hassle. JM2C
