    My leatherwork

I got the itch a while back to try my hand at leatherworking so I invested some money in a few tools and a sheet of leather and started doing a few things here and there. I enjoy the work and it keeps me busy. It seems like as soon as I finish a project my mind is already on to the next thing so I guess that's a good thing. I found this a lot more rewarding than I would have suspected, just watching the projects come to fruition and knowing that I made them with my own hands makes up for any little imperfections that may show up in the work. Anyway, here's the projects I've done so far:

This was my first project, a sheath for my old Gerber Multi-tool

A baton ring for work (I've begun taking orders for this one at work, it's very popular so far)

My newest project was this rifle but cuff for a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington. I deviated from most cartridge loops on this as the loop leather is not attached to the front, those loops are actually fed through slots in the cuff and the leather strap is attached behind. The loop strap is glued and stitched so it should stay on forever.

Pictures of those last 2 projects didn't turn out so well, they were taken on a cell phone.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I'll have to put some thought into the logo idea I hadn't really considered it, thanks for the idea.

    Update

I ordered some heavy 2 1/2" straps (blems really) from Tandy figuring it might make good belt material. One will, the other has a cut in it so it'll probably end up a rifle sling before it's over with. Anyway here's the fruits of today's labor, turned that strap into a 1 3/4" wide belt. That heavy duty leather is so much better than my old belt it's unbelievable. There's definitely some small pock marks in the leather and what actually looks like it may have been a branding scar. Looks like part of a CF with the F being inside the C, I can only see part of that though. The branding scar ended up on the inside after I folded the leather to put the buckle on so it's not even visible. Anyway, here's a pic:

The best part is the whole thing cost me less than $15 to make, no way I could buy one of any kind of quality for that.
