Much of New England, New York, NJ, Eastern PA, and Michigan down to Arkansas have heat Warnings out today. I looked at my regional grid manager, ISO-NE, and it looks to be close to capacity today. I'm sure many others will be also. It would not take much more to cause it to fail in places. Have a backup ready.

Stay Frosty.

It was absolutely brutal here yesterday. I cannot take the heat like that at all. Looks like today and most of the week are going to be just like yesterday. 97 degrees and air robbing humidity suck I hate it.

Our forecast is a solid week of >90F. Today is expected to be 97. NWS is showing heat warnings in a huge area. Need to prep backup power for freezer, frig, AC & fans. Lots of wattage.

Fuse are popping in sections around here 8k without power yesterday we were lucky and on the right side of the outtage yesterday. Aging electrical equipment that they didnt touch while building all the new big foot home neighborhoods where cornfields used to be. 4pm peak usage fuses blow or transformers fail.

It's in the 60's here in the Rockies. It's supposed to get in the upper 80's next week. Time to go higher up...to 10,000 ft. to cool off.

I was in North Mississippi this weekend at my buddy's hunting camp smokin some ribs, shooting some guns and drinking some adult beverages and the temps were in the high 90's with a "feel like temp" of 107.

We had multiple smokers going on Saturday with 30 slabs of St. Louis style Spare Ribs! It was freakin' HOT! We shot some early in the AM, then fished for a while until we realized the fish were laughing at our stupid asses for it being too hot, then we ate and drank some more! But damn, it was miserable!

(Wouldn't have traded it for anything! Large Time Had By All!)

It was hot here in Wisconsin as well. We had that 98F with high humidity a couple days ago. It really sucked. My AC definitely got a workout. I am glad I kind of somewhat know how to service my AC. Anyway, it is always a good thing thing to clean the condenser coils (in air handler), clean the fins on the exterior compressor unit, and install a new air filter. The compressor unit fins can be sprayed with a benign cleaner like Simple Green and rinsed off. It is a good idea to kill the power before doing this. Also, check all the water drainage holes on the compressor unit. I ordered a no rinse foaming cleaner and a small scrub brush for the interior air handler coils. I scrubbed the major stuff down, and I sprayed the cleaner on my coils. The cleaner I used was Nu-Calgon Evap Cleaner No Rinse. I also made sure my drainage line from the air handler was not plugged. The last thing I did to service my AC was to check the temperature coming out of a vent. It should be at least 20 degrees colder than room air which means the system has enough freon.

Another trick I like to do is to cool my house a little more than normal in the morning. I will run my AC more at that time of day as an AC unit will be more efficient at cooling when it is not screaming hot out. I will set my thermostat to around 70F. I will normally keep my thermostat around 75. It takes awhile for the my house to climb 5 degrees even when it is is crazy hot out.
