KALAMAZOO, MI -- Fred Spencer stood among military service members and their families to pour the final shot of Crown Royal Whiskey into a bucket of sand.
Spencer, 93, leaned on his cane while saluting his fallen comrades with the sign of the cross.
He is the "Last Man Standing" of a group of 94 men who left Kalamazoo together to fight in World War II.
