Discussion between OSFG and Backpackhack from Preppers forum continued.

Have fun boys try not to get any blood on the carpet OK ! :biglaugh:

I can settle this. ANYTHING will conduct electricity, if the voltage is high enough. Every time lightning strikes, MILES of thin air conduct electricity.

Well Sparky should know. If paracord is damp, heck yeah

The egg, if you believe in evolution. Theoretically, some type of bird layed an egg, and inside was a "mutant" that we now call a chicken.

Actually, . . . if you follow evolution, . . . neither, . . . as all birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs.

OTOH, . . . if you are a creationist (all really smart people are) then it was the chicken.

May God bless,
Dwight

Who layed EGGS.

Ya got to go back to the primal goo, . . . where the inert, non living whatchamaycallit, decided to live, . . . became a one celled democrat, . . . then split in two (they're still doing that in Chicago I hear).

So then that thingamajig was the parent, . . . with no chicken or egg.

May God bless,
Dwight

Why did the chicken cross the river using paracord in a thunder storm?

Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get from the left to the right!
He stepped out of rank, got hit by a tank...
He ain't no chicken no more!

Obviously the Russians made him do it, so Trump could steal the election. And then Chick-fil-A fried him to make fun of homos. Sheesh! What are ya? Thick?

This is the CORRECT ANSWER^^^^^

Called Son2 (Journeyman Lineman for a Southeastern Regional Power Company) and he said, "Do you want to bet your life on something NOT being conductive or do you want to live and expect EVERYTHING to possibly be conductive when you are dealing with 350,000 volts and a current of less than 1000 can kill you?" Or he said something like that, I didn't understand some of what he said so I'll paraphrase. The bottom line is, don't mess with electricity if you want to live ....

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people today aren't doing anything with 350kv, let alone doing it with paracord.

Unless the pocos are using 550 instead of aluminum. If they are, I'm sure they're experiencing a hell of a voltage drop.

So if you fly a kite with 550 cord over a set of 13,200v wires on a dry day you can be assured you're not going to die ?

OK, this originally started at 400volts. I upped the ante to 1069. Then we skyrocketed to 350,000. Now we've slammed on the brakes to 13,200. What's next? 7,400? 600? 750,000? 9? I'm not going to play if the goalposts get moved every post.

Speaking of goal posts, some chick from the US Women's soccer team kicked a field goal at an NFL practice and now she supposedly has an offer to kick in the NFL

I like the article saying some are concerned with her safety if she does play in the NFL.

But wait a minute, isn't she one of the dykes that has been bitching and whining about equal pay and shit? So lets see what she is made of...

I've been playing fair on the question from the git-go. Just go look. I proved someone wrong, and they got all butt-hurt about it and started acting like a 3-year-old. I proved (not just said, "I was told..."..... I proved...) paracord does not conduct current at 1,000 volts.

Next thing I know I'm called names, attacked, claimed I said things I didn't say..... Typical troll behavior.

Nope.... not gonna play that game. There, or here. Don't like it? Tough.

I quit there, and I'll quit here as well. Flame away. I don't care.

Nobodys flaming you here. I may tug your chain but I have not lit the torch.

Now add a little moisture to that paracord and you are going to get zapped.

Don't go away all butthurt as you said... hell OSFG hasn't even hit this thread yet.

C'mon BackPackHack, nobody's flaming you, everyone here seems to really like you! Well maybe not EVERYONE but Most. Check that, probably not Most, but at least Some. By Some, I mean a few, probably more like a couple. I don't know, maybe just me. :nolove:

I work on 120 volts, 240 volts, 277 volts, 480 volts, 4160 volts, 6900 volts, 26,000 volts, and 500,000 volts, but what do I know.

What's your take on this 1000V doesn't conduct theroy?

I don't think I'm going to test it. To many variables! I wouldn't throw it over my drop coming into my house.

It's questionable. BUT, if the paracord had sweat on it, water on it, mud on it, etc., it's conductivity goes up. Technically, paracord is made of polyester fibers, which are generally considered "non-conductive", but I wouldn't test it with my life. It takes as little as 10 milliamps (0.01 amps) to cause cardiac fibrillation, and death. I'll take a pass.

You did it w 1069 vDC an micro amps of power and alluded to the idea that AC and DC react the same, It does not. I can send you the math and the over arching issues of go get a heavy duty welder tht can get up to 400 volts DC at significant amperage and a 400VAC line and try it.

I suggest wearing outer wear and a face shield.
