Concrete is a very good thing, and modern life would be impossible without it. I live not too far from Carroll's Building Materials on 9th Avenue.
The aggregate and stone, comes in by the train load, and they are right beside the tracks. It is always jumping there, so they have a customer base.

It's a good thing when you have good dirt in it.
There is a HUGE problem up here with foundations poured by a certain concrete place cracking.
They traced it back to the silica(?) from a particular gravel pit.

Uh oh! Let me guess, silica will not bond into a solid concrete, um, because it is silica. Or does it attract moisture, and break the concrete by swelling?
My question is, how does the silica destroy the mix, or the concrete?
