Bad idea, even from a prevention standpoint. States and local cities are much closer to this and have a better feel for what's happening.

I think it will happen, and the stupidity will get worse, until we hit a breaking point one way or another.

Now the Government knows all the steps to take to get the sheeple controlled. Can gun confiscation be far behind? It's not such a far fetched idea. Remember what the police did after Katrina?

They're not keeping good control, most areas police aren't/won't respond to anything minor (including things like assault etc) and I'm not in a large city.

To be fair about Katrina, it took the NG from multiple states, and police forces from multiple states to confiscate firearms in a city which was mostly deserted. That wouldn't fair too well in a city which was full, and without the massive amount of NG.

I haven't noticed much traffic at the local flop house lately.

So some good has become of this .

Heck when I drive by the local Walmart it looks like a normal day, as if the state doesn't have a lock down. I even watched some lady walk out with a bag holding 2 small things in it. People are going there just to go somewhere, it is moronic.

I've done that for two reasons:

1. Perishables (milk, cheese etc) don't last forever and while I have pantry of goods that'll keep for months/years, my kids need milk etc so I go out there.

2. Get the wife alcohol so she would leave me the hell alone. (I'm not exaggerating)

Think that is a over-step of his powers..... but when there is the Governor of ...say.... Florida who refuses to issue a "Stay at Home" order because he says he was not specifically told to do so......
An Area that is ...
A) a Hot Spot ....
B) has a large percentage of older -at-risk- people ...
C) was appearing to allowing life as normal activities.....

In that vein ... it makes sense
Do I agree that he should... No... again.. I think that is an over-step

But take as I was at meijer buying meat and eggs, I see 3 teens just hanging around in a department talking and joking, but you could see they weren't family. People are not taking g this seriously and many are going out just to " get out of the house".

I haven't really seen that in my area. This is most likely why some areas are seeing this thing spread like fire while others are having minimal cases. There are vast differences in culture and geography among the states.

Probably why we're seeing this thing fly through dense cities like NYC; the people there aren't equipped (physically or mentally) to deal with staying at home for any period of time. I know going through a few tech forums to help people, they are complaining about a 400sq foot total apartment they now have to share with work and other people . . . ouch, and they don't have things like yards or garages typically.

Trump just 'thinking about doing that' - has been enough to get others to act appropriately.
He's the last person I'd play poker with.

It is going to reach the point that the economy won't tolerate this, and it'll crash. At that point . . . most people probably aren't going to follow those 'stay at home,' guidelines.

Trump has actually alluded to this a few times during his press conferences. Yes, this virus is appearing to be bad, but economy doesn't really ever stop, it can't.

Manufacturers need supplies.
Grocery stores need to purchase goods.
Suppliers need to pay their workers, in order to purchase the above.

I think so many are pushing towards forcing us into total Socialism, and they don't realize that isn't really possible in the real world. What we need is to honestly get back out there, and start the economy going again. Another seventy to ninety days as some have suggested will kill us; I don't think most companies will last past thirty or forty-five days, they'll fold and people will panic. Wait until the public workers stop getting their paychecks, because that isn't far behind.

My little world is toppling. Our work orders have trickled off, and lays off have happened. I am currently employed, waiting on word from corporate.
Honestly, I don't wanna take any furlough, as it will only pay unemployment? I would rather be termed, and cash my 401 k, and then get unemployment, or find another job. I don't wanna go home today. The wife will see right through any filter I try to put up. I "hear" that the company is not allowing employees to use paid time off, and I have LOTS of it saved up. I am contemplating taking next week off, to trench the LONG AWAITED natural gas line. They can either pay me or let me go, and find another monkey to bang the symbols together. If anymore restrictions happen, my boss assures me that we will just lock the doors and fade out. If any travel restrictions happen, then we are definitely done for.

Damm I know you know this, but gonna say it anyway cause that's what women do.
The relief bill says Unemployment is to be paid at the full wage rate + $600/wk - for the next four months.
However you do it, I hope you get everything you can.
