Put yourself into a home that is designed for the weather.

We built the cabin at 5000 feet in the Cascades where six feet or more snow falls each winter. The roof slope was designed by me at 24 in 12. for those of you not familiar with the numbers that's a 24" rise in 12 inches.

It closely aproximates a 60 degree angle. The sno builds up to about 8 inches and then slides off the composite roof. If it had been a metal roof then it would have not built up at all.

A metal roof would be awesome.
