Couldn't tell you, it was before my time.
Apparently it's coming back, I've heard it used a few times in the past couple years. Probably from 50's kids, like my older sister.

Yeah in the 50's and 60's glamping was going to a state park campground or a KOA with a canned ham camper with electric plug in along with a gas lamp and stove with an bonified ice box that you would put a block of ice inside.

HAHAHA! As opposed to what my Dad did one year, which was to park it behind a cornfield one fall and use it to spotlight deer!
