Shattered. shattered, puff a doobie.

I had the vinyl with all the pics.

I'll try to live like I did during the summers on my boat. Electric fry pan, microwave, hotplate, broiler oven, electric heater and BBQ.

Ya, it got damp in the cabin being in the water, so the heat dried it out.

It's going to be $300 or more a month for winter heat again like the late 90's,early 2000's.

Excellent move BB! I waited too long and paid more in the fall.

Three words of advice for you my friend: you'll be sorry.

Just as soon as the gubment gets enough of the folks of this planet on electric . . . they will finally have the control they want.

They can dictate how hot your living space can be in summer or winter . . . and by monitoring it with a link to their charts . . . they'll just cut you off when you use too much . . .

You will be totally under their permissive thumb . . . will have no say in the matter . . . and can drop dead if you don't like it.

When you get cut off that first time . . . you will be angry . . . but when your freezer full of food goes bad . . . and you have to walk to the grocery every morning for the quart of milk your kids need . . . (your electric car won't charge cause you don't got no juice) . . . and you have to ride the electric trolly to work . . . that is when you will really get a case of the jaws.

Your dirty clothes will pile up . . . you'll take all cold showers . . . and the 5th day of PBJ for dinner . . . won't be as much fun as the first one.

Yeah . . . go all electric.

May God bless,
Dwight

Agree 100% Pastor D!

For us, diversification is key. I'm heavily invested in LPG, Diesel, Gasoline, Electricity, Wood (20+ Acres mainly hardwood) and (and one day, Good Lord Willing) Solar!

I'm talking using a space heater and turning down the gas furnace. I have electric fry pans. Hot water and dryer are LPG.

I'm just going electric as much as I can easily. It sure feels nice sitting in a base layer in front of the heater .

Glad to say we aint had natural gas in fifty years..and dont miss it at all. Not to change the subject rapidly but if anybody eats butter, limes or avacados from mexico best try to stock some...cause the price is headed up up up. The drug cartels are controlling the fruit..and not sure whats up with the butter..but the boy in the wholesale food bidness said its jumped fifty bucks a case.

I buy a box of food a day, and volunteer at a food bank. I can get food there, but I don't need it at the moment.

We got a load of bad propane last summer when we filled up. It created so much soot in the water heater and furnace, they quit working until we cleaned them out. I am not exaggerating when I say there was over 1/2 inch of soot inside the chimney pipe! I had to take the water heater all apart to clean the jets to even get it working again. And all that was after a month of trying to figure out what was going on in the first place.

Propane is not my friend right now!

Just had 2 BBQ tanks filled at $4.59 per gallon. That's about what I'm paying for regular gas!

Everyone take heed of Dwight's words. They've almost already got this complete in Commiefornia. They are forcing everyone to electric (cars included) and then tell us how much we can use. They put a controller on my AC and if they think I'm using it too much they can turn it down or off. I have promptly removed their controller.

Yeah yeah, I know CA sicks and I should leave. Worry more about it not happening to your state because they are going to try. You guys have to keep your states free so I have somewhere to go once I escape this cesspool.

And what happens when you cant run it unless you have their controller in place?

You guys are all a bunch of big-talkin pussies. You wanna live free?

The end game is that they will want to keep you from taking more then your fair share. Ahhhh, But who decides what is a fair share? Us, or them? I am betting those who will want to decide will have plenty more then their fair share. They want to be able to monitor your power, your AC & heat, your gas, your travel, you name it. They want to see it and control it.

We have no smart home features that can be monitored or controlled by outside sources. We have whole house back up generation and MG is working on a solar solution for us as we speak. I want to be in a position that when and if they shut the power off we can survive just fine without having to rely on outside sources. Most of what we are doing can be transferred when we find our new place.

A/C power isn't too complicated, neither are the controls from a basic $20 thermostat, that anyone with a house should keep around (good for emergencies etc).
Worse case . . . . a switch to send the HVAC a code . . . that is all thermostat does.

We had our two hi-tech thermostats yanked out last week when the 30amp gen inlet was installed. I've been ramping up this morning re improvements to components & batts for a solar system since I designed the one for the mountain in 2016... and I'm not liking the trend that it now takes wifi/bluetooth/apps/etc to manage the better ones... But I'm not done yet. :halo:

Yeah, I know it. My thermostat was nice to program, but I hated that I had to program it on a webpage and send the instructions to the unit. It did save me a significant amount of money when it was dialed in, and it made it nice in the winter/summer to not have to remember to reset the thermostat in the morning/evening.

I have an old round mercury thermostat from the 70's. It works, I'll leave it be, plus I know how to jump / bypass it.

Update on electric fry pan and hotplate

The fry pan had wear on the finish above the heat ring, so I priced it at $5 and it sold in 10 minutes

The hot plate control knob stripped and I burned my thumb finding out it was a little more than just warm.

So this morning after I'm done boiling water for my oatmeal, and cools off, it will take a ride on one of my snowbanks.

175 gallons for $330 delivered Wednesday. Driver said current price is in the mid $3, but the price should be back down by August for a decent pre pay lock in.

It did save me a significant amount of money when it was dialed in, and it made it nice in the winter/summer to not have to remember to reset the thermostat in the morning/evening.

I had put in programmable thermostats about 10 years ago, saved the old mercury Honeywell types.

Last year I pulled them and put the old ones back in, I now am a happy camper again.

I don't know how to define this in short terms, when real cold, 10 to -10 or better,

my heat is switched to a mechanical one hour timer.

It has been on that timer for 30 years I guess.

The timer comes on twice during that hour for a 8 minute cycle of which 5

of it is intermittent one minute off segments.

The air blower does not stop after heat up,

stack limit switch keeps it going until burn cycle is over and stack temp drops.

I have forced hot air for heat , the intermittent allows for the blower

to cool down the heat chamber 2 degrees while heating the house.

The temp drop is not even noticed, saves on oil by taking the

thermostat out of the system during high demand.

The house heat does fluctuate, low is 62 degrees when -10 outside outside,

I burn 1,000 gallons of fuel oil a season, and need to keep it at that level,

even more so now with this shit going on.

I hate to say it, but I remember when fuel oil was 25 Cents a gallon!

I was a little kid then and they were converting coal furnaces

over to oil burners, coal was $18.00 a ton delivered!

We use to burn two tons of coal a winter along with heat from a kitchen gas log.

We pre-bought at $1.85. We hadn't been at our place but a couple of months so we over bought at 1000gals, but I did not want to run out. If we'd paid everything up front it would've been $1.75. I'm not betting that it'll actually drop in price over the summer, so I'm making sure mine is completely topped up at the end of the month before my contract is done.

I did my first load of laundry, cooked dinner and took my first shower at Mom's in 4 months.

I need to plumb the man cave with LPG from the main to use in the blue flame. PrePaid and need to use it. Saw a PIG on the roadside, should have grabbed it., but I'm AWOL as much as I can, and I'm great at it......

We're on Nat Gas here , so it'll be @ 55 there like it has since 1972, never winterized.

Oh , planting bulbs, being told how to remodel, what color to paint....

That's what's going on
