I don't recall if anyone here mentioned this smoker before or I just stumbled upon it somehow someway...but regardless...it sure looks well built and sturdy but does it produce a product that we Que Masters expect?

Whatcha think?

Excellent observation SBE!

In reality, the concept of a "barrel smoker" is the vortex effect of the smoke in a true barrel as you cook your meat.

This contraption takes that concept and modifies it and its just simpler to call it a "barrel smoker" vs a cube smoker...(I guess? :behindsofa:)

So far I'm liking it.

It looks like a peach of a smoker!

The only part that made me go "Huh?" when I read the description was:

This cooker is made by hand in Tulsa, Oklahoma of heavy-duty corten steel. Corten is specially designed to surface-rust and self-seal, creating a rustic outer shell that will continue to patina without affecting the integrity of the steel.

Translated by my feeble brain: "We are going to charge you almost 2 grand for a grill that we absolutely guarantee to rust".... Um, okay, I guess... :biglaugh:

I know Slippy, I was just being a sarcastic son-of-a-bitch, as usual.

Forgive me as my memory may be off. IIRC this special steel is a weathering type of steel that corrodes a bit and then stops. The US Steel building in downtown Pittsburgh is made of this stuff and has stood the test of time.

Yes, that is correct. The oxidation process does not break down the integrity of the steel, it simply gives it a certain aged look. And I believe Hasty Bake has a $950 smoker in addition to the $2000 smoker.

"cube" is only one syllable as opposed to 2 for "barrel":wall:

A few years back . . . I popped 20 bucks or so for his "cowboy cookbook"

If that smoker ain't no better than the recipes in his cookbook . . . save your money guys . . .

I'm of the opinion he is a face in a cowboy hat . . . selling anything that will make a buck . . .

Reminds me of Hunter boy

May God bless,
Dwight

The New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville West Virginia is built with this steel also.

They have a "BridgeWalk" tour.
You get to walk the maintenance Catwalk 30 ft under the road surface from end to end.
Stunning views.... Road surface is 870 feet above the water, so the catwalk is 840 feet up.
So for those of you who ever visit Downtown Detroit.... Look up at the Renaissance Center Main Tower.... Then add 100+ Feet

If you look close, you can see a kayaker almost dead center

BUT I DIGRESS... This is supposed to be about the Smoker!!
My apologies to the OP.

EDIT:
I see the OP is Slippy... so he/you started me down that rabbit trail......

And no... that's two separate pronouns..... not meant for Slippy alone LOL

If the smoker identifies as round YOU MUST ACCEPT IT!
