The big story of today was a statewide 911 system crash in Massachusetts.
While I'm sure that our members never even noticed it, it should make one think,
What would be the worst case scenario of this if it happens in my AO?
I have not yet followed up to see if it is back up yet.

911 in any state is a very complex system, bringing together several cell carriers, landline carriers, and every dispatch center in the state. It is hard for me to imagine the whole state's system going down. At the start of the first heat wave of the season is a bad coincidence.

I noticed it!

I got phone calls from the town, Spectrum and state police that it was out.

It was 98 degrees here where I live in the middle of this shithole state.

Worked outside for only a half hour this afternoon, will go out in the morning tomorrow to complete the job.

I have to make it a point to get up in the morning, normally not until after 10 AM, 8 tomorrow, out to work at 10 till noon, done.

I WONDER, A HACK?????

My cell carrier sent a message 911 was down.

As I view most parts of government as nefarious, I wonder if this was a test for something they have planned.

911 here is basically just for a police report, to tell them your side of the story, since nobody else is talking.

No city water, so your home burns before they can refill the firetruck at the lake.

I've never in my 46 years called 911 anyway.

Neither have I. By the time I get around to 911 I already have the body disposed of.

I've only called twice, once when 4 neighbors wanted to beat me up for giving them antifreeze for their radiator change. They said I poisoned the dog., and I skinned leather. The other time a guy followed our minivan into driveway and wanted to throw down until I skinned leather. The next week I found out he lived down the street having a garage sale, he looked uncomfortable

Yup folks are on The Meth 'round here

I was going to call 9-1-1 once, but couldn't find the phone book, so I could not look up the number... :smashfreak:
