Went to the garage sales today with the grandson. I picked up a Camillus folding knife (says #4 on the blade) for four dollars. Came with a nice leather holder. I read up on the Camillus knives - went bankrupt in 2007 and was bought out by Acme who started making the knives again in 2009. I can't find a picture of this one and Inor isn't home yet to take a picture of it.
I thought it was nice.
Anyone know about it?

Camillus is good to go. Even their new foreign made stuff is great for the price.

Very much like that one but the ends are brass. Also the other side of the blade at the base has "Camillus" then "New York USA" underneath. The blade itself has two crossed swords "Sword" on the left of the crossed blades and "Brand" on the right side with "Hand Made" underneath.
I was going to give it to Inor - but the more I look at it, the more I like it for me. Happy Mother's Day to me.
I just got home and looked at it. I think she did well getting it for $4. The scales are in good shape, although worn some. Whoever owned it, obviously took VERY good care of it. The brass is a bit tarnished, but that will come right off with a rag and some jewelers rouge. It looks like it might be a left handed knife. As you look at it from the back, the right side is completely flat. The left side has a bevel. It is obvious the bevel on the right was not ground off; so it came that way from the factory. So, unless it is like a bevel-down wood plane, it is designed for a lefty. Even so, it is a damn cool knife! - Good job Wife! Happy Mothers' Day!
I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Sounds like a chisel grind, interesting choice. Information on the #4 is pretty sketchy, doesn't look like they made many of them (my guess would be the grind of the blade). I think the ebay auction James posted is pretty optimistic as I found one offered for sale with box, papers and sheath for $45.99. I suppose if it was a brand new unused #4 it might fetch that. Overall I think you did very well MrsInor, Camillus knives were well respected and will withstand a lot of abuse. $4, sheesh howcome I never find deals like that?

Excellent deal. Any Camillus that was made in the USA is quality.
All the good brands went away due to labor costs. Schrade, Imperial, Camillus, all the rest.
Good job, Mrs I.

I carried a camillus knife on my survival vest for about 14 years of my career.

The Ka Bar I carried in Vietnam was actually made under contract by Camillus.
