I haven't darned any socks for years, although I use the same technique to fix holes in Inor's favorite sweater. This is a pretty good video. It is a bit long.

That's the way I learned watching my Granny. I use a light bulb inside the sock. I've repaired a lot of my old wool winter socks that way over the years.
