Wild plants and roots are nice, but sometimes you want to add a little bit of meat to your diet. In this series, I will cover what animals can be harvested as a food source in the wild, and some general methods of capturing and cooking these critters.

To preface this, the odds of anyone actually needing to procure meat in a survival scenario are astronomically low. All things considered, finding edible plants is generally a far better use of your energy and, in most survival situations, shelter, fire, and water are way bigger priorities. Plus,

I would do it. I've tried food products made from crickets and they weren't bad at all. They're easy to catch and you could also use em as bait.

True, gut wrenching hunger would change some peoples way of thinking.
Honestly, for the short term, people will be ok. He'll there's enough food in my pantry to last for a month.
As far as taste, I have only had flavored crickets, they tasted like potatoe chips, but left a "dead taste" in my mouth
Fried mealworms taste like the "redskin" off a peanut.
Worms taste like dirt .

Worms are better tasting if you clean them before eating. You can grind worms and make a decent hamburger.
Ants are just nasty! they are way too bitter to eat without a sweetener of some kind.
Grubs and maggots are a good tasting treat - especially added to a soup or stew.
