Long before we had pots and pans, men and women knelt over fires and used what nature provided to put food on their table (or on the large rock serving as their table that evening). Today, we have knives, pots, spoons, and even large appliances like food processors. But that doesn’t mean you won’t ever need to know how to cook without them. Whether you’re camping or in an actual emergency situation, there are 7 common primitive cooking methods that you still would better know even today.

Ash Cooking

Broiling

Hot Stone Cooking

Plank Cooking

Surprised they didn't mention the other hot stone method for when you don't have a fire safe container. Here's a demo

https://youtu.be/ydu0r9UVPHU I've seen that method used to sanitize water. Hot enough rocks will boil the water.

Now, . . . that plank thing, . . . is that where you gut the catfish, . . . put him on a plank, . . . garlic, onions, butter, salt & pepper.

Lay it up next to the fire so the fish gets good and brown, . . . well done, . . . then pry off the fish, throw it away, . . . and eat the plank?

Curious minds just wonder.............uhhh, . . . maybe that's WANDER, . . . whatever.

May God bless,
Dwight

Now that's funny!

Seriously tho, I've tried it before with pan fish and trout and it works good!

I've seen a tutorial with Randy Quaid cooking chicken on a hot rock in the Nevada desert. N.L. Vacation. No grill needed!
