Targetshooter, i couldn't help but read your post from the other place about shooting a deer with a .22lr? So i have to ask with such a small round like that were you poaching? Because thats illegal. even legally hunting with such small calibers is illegal. You should refer to the hunting regulations you received with your license. And please don't tell me that you have been shooting for 47 years with only a .22lr.

I am withdrawing my "hello,"

Well I don't condone either poaching or shooting deer with .22lr's although certainly plenty of deer have fallen to it. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was a what if scenario even though I didn't read the post. As far as I'm concerned what happens over there should stay over there, that should help keep the drama here to a minimum.

Anyway Targetshooter, welcome from behind enemy lines.

First of all.. James do you really know what the legal caliber requirement is for NC.?

In Mi. For legal deer hunting its .35 and above. Prior to the modern world and the idea of making a person buy a lisence to hunt .22 could easliy put down a whitetail. The round is certinly capable. But the person pulling the triger must make the correct shot. In a survival situation I will be stacking them 5 feet high and using whitetail for sand bags with a .22lr.

I do not condone poaching either. But in all honesty, I cannot say that I have always felt that way...

Not too far from where I grew up, the University of Minnesota Ag school had a corn field. It was absolutely LOADED with pheasants. When I was about 13 or 14 a couple buddies and I decided we wanted to get some of those pheasants. One of my pals lifted a bottle of sleeping pills from his parent's medicine cabinet. We got a bunch of raisins and made small slit in them with a razor blade. Then we put a small amount of the powder from the sleeping pills in the raisins and carefully sewed them back up with a needle and thread.

We rode our bikes to the U of M cornfield and threw the raisins on the ground and waited for the pheasants. We discovered pheasants LOVE raisins more than we anticipated. Once they ate them, it only took about 15 minutes before they were out cold and we could come along and stuff them into our backpacks.

The only bad part happened when we were on the ride home and the drug started wearing off and the pheasants started waking up. They pecked the shit out of our backs the whole way home! We all looked like we had the measles on our backs. But we took them to my buddy's house and killed and cleaned them. We had over 30 in total!

Good times! :biglaugh:

It would have made too much noise. The University people would have been on our asses in a heartbeat. They hated us as it was for just crossing their land to get down to the river bottoms where we hung out.

Back about six years ago I drove up on a deer that had been struck. It's legs were broken, but it was still full of fight. Reached in the Glove box and got out my .22 pistol and one in the ear canal and she was out of her pain and suffering.

Welcome Target

Disregard the dicks around here.

I am probably not too far from you -- just north in Virginia - the state that just screwed up our CHPs. As I remember, NC is one of the states they no longer recognize. Thanks to our f'ng Governor.

Some Yanks don't know what private property is, of course nobody really owns anything. Want proof? Don't pay your property taxes!
