I'll start the new section by moving an old post...

With so many interchangeable accessories available today lots of folks are building vs. buying complete units. What have you built? In some cases it could be self machined. I'll start off with a picture of the flash hide I made for my little S&W 15/22. I know, I know how much flash can come from a 22 but it was more for the looks than anything else.

I wish...that was all by done with hand tools. I spent many years doing metal smith work for the Air Force. A desk job now drives me stir crazy so I do stuff like this when I'm bored.

If this were gun porn, I'd tell you that's a really nice hand (tool) job!

This is an Olympic Arms .22 cal. Whitney "Wolverine" that I modified just because I could. The barrel is threaded but it's 3/8"X 20 fine thread so I would have to make a sleeve in order to put a silencer on it since most are 1/2"X20 threads for .22's. Still thinking about it. I am a retired machinist and do have a small lathe and drill press, I love to tinker. It is actually Gold paint, it just looks green in the picture. It's my James Bond space gun.

Neos are nice, I just got hung up on the Wolverine. I started out modifying paintball guns and before that it was older Honda motorcycles.
Seems like I have a hard time leaving things stock, gets expensive some times.

Yeah I know what you mean. My other hobby is taking stock golf carts and turning them into something...well not so stock.

Gun wise, took an M1 Garand and converted it to take M14 magazines.
Sorry, no picture capability.

Did it take a lot of work?

I hadn't seen this thread before.
A good one to bump, as I started a new project lately.
I don't want to put out details considering my location, but it involves a block of semi-milled aluminum. The other parts will follow as the budget allows.

Yes it did take a lot of work.
The receiver was annealed then machined to the defined configuration including a position for a bolt stop then heat treated again.
Several parts were made, bolt stop, spring guide stock liner.
Most work was done in my Bridgeport mill.

What you are doing is perfectly legal as long as you don't sell it.

They don't like not having numbers to track. The less they have, the better I like it.

Damned if I didn't drop it in the River.

After today's announcement about Hillary getting her Get out of Jail Free Card, I saw that PSA had a Daily Deal that I just couldn't pass up.
I was reading last night (surprise) about Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black.
Anyone here have any experience with it?
