Helmut is the German name. I used to live in Germany, and I had some friends early on who called me that as a joke but they couldn't pronounce it properly. I morphed to hellmutt which seemed visually quite cool and it's stuck ever since :)

Very ironic.... my screen name came from when I lived in Germany too!
