Heat exhaustion comes in two forms: 1) salt depletion, where your body loses important salts by sweating and urination; and 2) water depletion, which is simply the medical jargon for dehydration.

When you get cramps, feel dizzy or nauseous, or when you’re vomiting, it means you are experiencing the salt depletion form of heat exhaustion. If you have a headache, feel weak, become very thirsty, or even lose consciousness, you are experiencing dehydration.

Do not take these signs lightly! Do not try to “power through.” Heat exhaustion can quickly lead to heat stroke, a much more serious and possibly deadly condition.

I only had it happen once --- the first thing I noticed --- no color -- every thing looked kinda black & white --

Then people around me started saying -- "You look like crap" --

But I always look like that ?

Good info. I've seen too many people while out hiking get heat stroke.

Good rule of thumb- if you feel thirsty you're already dehydrated. If it stings a little when you urinate you're already into dehydration (or you were at a whore house the night before).

when I worked sanitation and you be on the black top and walking up hill and running at times for 10-12 or even more hours a day in the sun. the chances of it happening is higher then most people will ever think
at AWI the company I worked for , a guy who was not that large of a man dropped dead from heat exhaustion.
his partner called (!! and radio for help but it still taken 10 plus minutes for emt's to show up.
heat exhaustion also can happen during cold times such as fall or winter, from being over dressed as well

I should take a picture of the info graphic work posts above all the toilets. It's a color wheel to tell you if you are dehydrated. The graffiti around them is hilarious!
