Canned bacon with a 10 year shelf life. I tried some and it was actually not bad at all.

Did I read that right? $15.49 per can. Ouch!

10 years is pretty long though for safe storage. I suppose that justifys the cost.

Yeah it's pricey. Really more of a treat for SHTF than anything. Not something to stock up on in bulk.

Our mess hall in Vietnam had no refrigeration.
Our bacon came in square based cans that stood a foot or so tall. It was wrapped in paper just like that picture, and was greasy beyond belief.

Funny thing, . . .

The longer I was there, . . . the better the bacon got to be.

That dagnabbed cook though, . . . needed a trip to the woodshed, . . .

His idea of "eggs over easy", . . . was to grab yer tray, . . . go over to the corner of the pan, . . . get a BIG spoonful of them green, de-high-dure-rated, scrambled eggs, . . . lay it gently down on yer tray, . . . gently turn it sideways, . . . giggle like an idiot, . . . and ask "Is that over easy enough for you?"

Dan started in the mess tent window for him, . . . took three guys to pull him back out.

I still can't eat them things, . . . the real ones are sorta OK, . . . but not them there powdered thangs.............

And I really ain't too sure I'd be payin that kind of price for something I can grow right out there in the back yard. Even if the SHTF, . . . piggy dudes is easy to grow, . . . durn near as easy as growin a beard.

From the looks of it, . . . that's bordering on $20.00 a pound, . . . Aldi's has it for $2.49 on sale, . . . and it ain't bad bacon, . . . (course there really ain't no such thing as bad bacon, . . . just that some is a whole lot better than others).

May God bless,
Dwight

For a prep, not a good idea unless you have all your larders full.

As a barter item, its probably worth an ounce of gold. sell it don't use it.

Nothing beats a big ol' breakfast burrito with bacon.
