The ammo idea looks like it works.

The rifle he used is a winchester single shot. One like that was my very first .22 rifle my dad bought me.

Kid has good finger control --

On a job site one time -- a guy took a .22 nail gun blank -- opened it up -- a nail tip ( 8P - 10P ? ) pushed it in -- he had a pistol grip type nail gun - gutted ( ? ) --- some thing came out and pierced 1/2" thick plywood at 8-ish feet -- out in the lot at about 20' -- just bounced off --

In a pinch -- someone would say -- "Ouch" --
