Acorns represent one of the biggest (and most widespread) calorie jackpots in the annual wild plant food harvest, if you can beat the squirrels to them. These high calorie nuts were a staple crop to many of our ancestors around the Northern Hemisphere and we can still rely on them for food today. Coming in at 2,000 calories per pound,

my father knew a guy whos nickname was 'chuckles' whom used to make a herbal tea or wine I don't recall which one its been to long.
if I recall what my father said, that this guy claimed it made his BLANK strong has a horses leg but gentile as a rose wrapped in silk
I know I heard that line else but this guy was a oddball but he did live to see late 90's after stepping on landmine and everyone was killed but him even with shrapnel not able to be removed and stabbed by some thugs and beaten and shot 2 years later with multiple time and in 1 car wreck and more.
I met this guy and after what I know I can see why his nickname was chuckles it was because he will laugh at death and the proof was in the pudding with him
this guy finally bit the bullet with the big C "cancer" and even that had a hard time killing him seeing he was post to die months before it was to take him.
think I need to get some acorns

Remember you will need a lot of water to get the Tannin out so the nuts can be made eddible.

I got into prepping a few years ago. I am kind of behind the 8-ball with a few things. One is food storage for a large group of non-prepping family members. I have been researching wild edibles. Obviously, I was aware that acorns are edible after the tannic acid is removed, and tannic acid can be used to treat a few ailments. I also have learned that the inner bark of pine trees is edible after boiling. Pine needle tea is rich in vitamins A&C. They would not be the greatest food source in the world, but my BOL has forty acres of oak and pine trees. I have enough food stored to subsidize those food supplies for my family. I also have tons of squirrel traps. To make a long story short, knowledge of wild edibles helped improve my situation drastically.

I also like the knowledge aspect. If people overrun your area or a disaster occurs forcing you to flee, I believe knowledge of wild edibles will be an invaluable back up plan.

Yes it will. It helps to know the lay of the land also.
