I think a few here know I own a business that requires me to drive around to customers locations. The current gas situation sucks in GA. Looks like I'm going to be using my gas preps for something I didn't think I would need it for. Reminds me of Katrina and the gas shortage that created.
Who else is noticing a shortage in their area? Over the weekend gas jumped up .50-.75 cents a gallon.

Haven't seen a jump here but I'm on the West coast. I think it is a scam and they pull it here all the time. When gas prices are low some problem always happens at the refineries that cause prices to spike (broken pipe, electric malfunction, someone farted next to the tanks).

No shortage up here yet. Still pretty cheap. Which is unusual. Although we got the traditional price spike for labor day weekend.

NC, SC, TN, and GA are having a price spike due to a broken line. Some stations may not have gas

Here's a story: http://m.wfmz.com/money/east-coast-faces-gas-shortages-price-hikes-after-pipeline-leak/41691818
It's funny to me, the line broke on the 9th and there was not a whole lot of media coverage on it. Well once the story started gaining traction it created a run on gas. So basically the shortage is created by a rush on the pumps for fear of not getting fuel. This has been the scenario before.
Once the news gets ahold of the story and runs with it the shortage begins. When I heard the line broke I filled three other 5 gallon cans I have sitting around. It brings me up to 75 gallons on hand.

Depending on your storage situation -- religiously -- buy one 5 gal. can ( or whatever you prefer ) once a month or every other -- before you know it -- you'll need more places to store them --
This coming summer I need to build a good size dog house -- complete with dogie bowl & chew toys -- the hinged roof will give easy access to the false floor to the cinder block lined pit under it ( also cooler ) --- out of site / out in the open -- and if theres a accident -- it will all stay below ground --
I just gotta remember to only access it at night --
Some day I might even get a dog ?

(Tens of thousands of gallons spill into rural Alabama. Photo courtesy Colonial Pipeline)
his whole situation keeps getting worse and worse. It seems to be growing by the day. When Colonial Pipeline originally announced the leak, it was reported that a mere 1,000 barrels of gas had leaked, or said another way, approximately 45,0000 gallons. It was then increased to 250,000 gallons – more than a 5 fold increase. Now it has reached more than an 8 fold increase from the original estimate.

News is picking up on it now.... looks kinda ugly.
Gasoline Pipeline Shutdown To 50 Million People On East Coast
So far at least six states – North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and Alabama – are reportedly all facing possible shortages due to the pipeline shutdown.
The mainstream media has hardly reported on this (a probable coordinated effort to keep it ‘hush hush’). Will the developing situation result in noticeable gasoline shortages?

Don't worry. I am sure obama will get his pal Warren Buffet to run his trains full of gas to the affected areas at a discount, probably even a loss to make sure there is plenty of gas for anybody that owns a Prius or a Chevy Volt. Of course, if you drive a pickup truck you won't be able to buy gas at any price because you are hurting Gaia.

I agree to bad we can raise our pay up when we want. I dropped by son off for college filled up my jeep when back at 10:45 am and one station was @ 2.19. Driving my moms car I went by another station and they hadn't raised their price so I got it there for $1.71. All of their pumps were full. In the closest large town it has been 2.21 for several days.
