Oklahoma huh? Are you a farmer/rancher type? Tell us a bit about yourself. Most of us are dog lovers too. Great companions. Here's a pic of my boy, Luke. 2690

Live outside Okc, about 5 acres. Learning about gardening, it gets so hot here in the summer I've not been very successful yet. Still need to do some clearing and plant fruit trees. I enjoy the food threads and learn a lot from them.
LMay, (Ellie May), is very spoiled, bossy, and thinks she's as large as a Great Dane. LMay is camera shy, I'll get a new picture and post.

Hey Dee. Don't clear too much. You'd be surprised how some veggies love the afternoon shade. Tomatoes is one. Try to plant so your garden gets some afternoon shade if you can. But not too close to any oaks. Fruit tree's are hard to establish, but once they take hold and get growing they'll be fine. Plums are easiest, IMO.
This time of year is the time to prepare your garden space. Till the ground and add any leaves or other mulch so it'll be better soil in the spring.
Raised beds are great too.
