Title pretty self explanatory once again. I carry my extra ammo in two small empty peanut butter jars. The jars are lightweight, durable, and waterproof. They are also very cheap.

I was doing that for awhile, but I emptied them and burned the plastic because they were in my way.
I still have about 20 filled up though
120 556's fill a medium jif jar well
I've been putting 100 556 in ziplocs,the 12 of those in a 50 cal ammo box.:thumb:

And now I'm debating on buying a Harbor Freight hand truck for all the fat 50's ?

I used to do that. However, I realized it would be good to be able to keep them in a waterproof container after I opened them.

When I had the PTR-91, If I was not wearing it, an FMCO 8-magazine vest. If I was wearing the vest, 9 magazines in a ditty bag. Another 180 rounds in 5-round stripper clips in a couple of different ditty bags in other bags on the game cart. When I finally can get an M-1 Carbine clone, it will be very similar set up.
Just my opinion.

My bag is basically a GHB
In addition to my ccw on my person, I can carry in the bag (in a designated pouch) an extra handgun and two extra mags. That is all the GHB has room for. If I have to go to a BOB scenario, I will put all my guns and ammo in my 3-wheel cart. It fits nicely in the back of my SUV. If somewhere down the road we end up abandoning the truck and having to hoof it, it is IMO the only way to go. I can carry 3 rifles plus lots of room for ammo, and other stuff. Sure rolls nice compared to having to lug all that stuff over my shoulder.

In magazines. I have enough Pmags and pistol magazines to keep me in the fight.
I keep a few loaded mags. The rest is vac sealed in 50 round packs.

The AO Kahrbine sees about 5 - 15 round mags, loaded with 12, and a couple large Great Value PB jars
The bullets and primers are sealed. Plus it has a Vortex RDS on the Ultimak rail now.

It depends on what I am doing, and/or planning for.
In my GHB/Emergency Bag I do not have any spare ammunition, everything I have is carried in magazines; if I need more than that, I'm screwed, statistically speaking.
At the house I have a fully loaded MOLLE vest along with my standard EDC; so if I had to 'bug out' from there, I would take that.
