Neos Overshoes

This ma not be the right section so mods move it if you think there is a better place for it.

Yesterday at work we were talking about cold weather boots. I like my mucks but if it ain't cold as all git out my feet sweat in them and then wind up colder than if I had on regular work boots. That was kind of the center of the group discussion. That is when 1 of the guys went to his truck and pulled out a pair of Neos Overshoes. He said that he liked the un insulated the best. He said they are great for warm and cold weather. Cooler than a ruber boot in warm weather and warmer than an insulated muck in cold weather. I have no experience with them and don't know this guy. So what say you? Does anyone here know these Overshoes?

I have the tall non-insulated ones. Work great. Easy for me to get on and off even with my physical problems.

They are kind of big and clunky, so it takes a while to get used to walking in them.

Just my opinion.

I've never heard of them. I use the tingley brand rubber boot that I can slip over my red wings. The mucks offer little ankle support if you're working and they are too damn hot. If I even see neos around here I would definitely give them a shot

Muck is the company name. Most of the boots they make are rubber with neoprene combination. They are warm, waterproof, and tough. They are also rated to be worn through a variety of temperature extremes. I have the shorter Muck Masters, and I believe they are rated to be worn between -20F through 70F. A lot of farmers in my area like them for a lot of the reasons I listed. I have two pair, and I love them!

Lacrosse and others like Cabelas offer the same type "Muck" boot. I recently looked through an L.L.Bean catalog and spotted a pair of Bean boots similar to their famous "Guide Boot". I liked the original Guide boot, but not the tread pattern...it looks like chains. It was very shallow and didn't give good traction in the rocks and steep terrain I elk hunt in. I see that Bean now has a boot like the guide, but it has a Vibram type sole. Count me interested. Not that bad price wise either, less that the Mucks and clones.

I live in the city of La Crosse where La Crosse Footwear boots used to be made. Now, all the crap is made in China. Anyway, my last experience with their product soured me so bad. They had leather structural firefighting boots they were clearing out for $50 a pair. It was a warehouse deal as they were in the process of moving out of the city and leaving for China. Normally, those are like $300 plus a pair. Since the boots were so cheap, our department bought everyone a new set who wanted one as our boots are actually only rated to be worn for so many years before it is mandated they are to be replaced regardless of wear. Anyway, our department got everyone boots. Two months later all the boots bought were scrapped as they were all defective, and the boots were literally falling apart. Typical, American company that moves operations to China to maximize profits and pays its consumers back with new "improved" total crap products.

Yes, things change when they move out. Quality becomes non-existent. I do not know about you, but I did not want to wear a pair boots inside of fire that could literally rip apart at the seams. Those boots were that bad.
