Aquariums anyone?

I got a few aquariums. I like mine planted. Got a killer deal on this 60 gallon. About $160 for the aquarium, hood, LED light and stand. I prefer planted tank (meaning real plants). It keeps the water quality higher.

In this tank I got Rams, Danios, Gouramis, Tetras, Cory cats, some algae eaters and a few other small fish. I was thinking of adding a few angels or other larger non-aggressive fish.

I've had many different shrimp but they never survive 😧.

I have another 15 gallon tall tank and a 10 gallon. Who else has a tank? A buddy of mine who breeds got me into the hobby. It's fairly enjoyable especially when you get a killer deal from Petsmart. I would really like a deal on a larger 150+ gallon tank.

Hey RWalls, I got out of the fish tank business about 7 years ago, but had several different salt tanks for about 15 years. My largest was a 400 gallon (two sided tank visible from two rooms). I have had sting rays, sharks, puffers, clown fish, tangs, eels, puffers, and triggers. They are a blast to keep ... but a salt tank can be a time consuming bobby. I miss it, but moved on and concentrated my efforts elsewhere.

Growing up we always had freshwater tanks and raised guppies galore. I enjoyed the pics and reminder, thanks for the share!

Ha! Funny you post this. I just got into aquariums and aquascaping. I'm working on a 40g breeder planted tank right now. Doing a dry start for the carpet of baby dwarf tears and christmas fern. Probably going to flood it this weekend. I'll post pics soon. I also have a five gallon planted shrimp tank.

Had a 50 gal years ago the watchdog in the tank was a redtail shark. It would ram the other fish to death.

A buddy of mine has a 200 gallon reef tank, with live coral, a shark, an eel, and many other tropical fish. I have always loved to just sit and watch it. I considered creating one of my own, but he says that a tank like that requires constant work, and constant money to maintain it. As beautiful as it is, I just don't have the time to invest in it. So, I just enjoy his when I can.

badass, I love watching fish too. None in the Deebo household, just two dogs, two kids under teenage years (THANK GOODNESS) and two sugar gliders.

Any pics of the shrimp tank? Sounds cool! Gave me an idea to remove the more aggressive fish from my 15gal and try shrimp again! I just have had no luck with them.

The pics I posted above are the shrimp tank. I just set it up last weekend. I only have 8 shrimp in it so far. Those little suckers are expensive.

We have a tank with the oldest and largest living fair goldfish in it. My boys won 3 goldfish at the county fair 3 years ago and we told them if they lived through the night we'd buy a tank, needles to say the made it through the night but 2 of them were dead within a week the other 2 now look like friggin koi fish. Fair fish are not supposed to lived this long, don't they have like a shelf life or something?

Goldfish and Koi are very hardy fish that can live in a wide arrange of water types and temps. They can also live a very long time. I won a goldfish at a fair when I was a kid and threw it into my Dad's Koi pond. He was furious because he was worried about disease. Well that little guy figured out how to survived and ended up living for many years and got HUGE. He was at least a foot long.

The plants are all real, Java fern and swordplants. This tank has been established for years and has seen generations of different species of fish, shrimp, plants and snails.

I tried a high tech tank once but it is too demanding for my work schedule and other duties. Turned into a mess so I sold it off. I'd like a reef tank when I retire.

Oh I forgot, I have some snails, I use CO2 and fertilizer for my plants and algae can get out of hand, the snails do a great job keeping it in check.

Here's the finished tank I scaped recently. Built the cabinet out of pallets and reclaimed wood.

It's a 40g breeder tank. No CO2 just dosing Excel.

Nice aquariums everybody! I don't have any but I sure do appreciate them. A while back my friend in Australia shared some pics of his freshwater aquariums (https://www.flickr.com/photos/voidmillions/). They are so magical! I especially appreciated the freshwater shrimps. He told me that he had the chance to see some in a stream in his area. Out of curiosity I checked online to see if there were any freshwater shrimps in my area. I was surprised to learn that there was one species native to my area... Syncaris pasadenae (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncaris_pasadenae)! The keyword being "was". It's now extinct... because the Rose Bowl was built on its habitat. So instead of being able to see some freshwater shrimps a few minutes from my house... I can see some games being played. From my perspective, it's not a very good trade-off.

My friend in Australia introduced me to the idea of paludariums. They are way cool.
