Have you ever wondered what is the best survival blanket to have — either in your car as part of a basic survival kit, or in your home, or in a bug-out bag, etc.?

Here are my thoughts:

First, let’s understand where the warmth of a blanket comes from.

Warmth comes from the heat of your body. To keep that warmth near your body, the blanket needs to trap the air close. It does this by the gap spaces between the fabric threads.

A blanket that stays the warmest is directly related to it’s fabric capacity to hold warm air.

Have asked the wife to take the el cheapo army surplus wool blankets, and sew a hospital blanket against it, both sides.

If you're worried about warmth... Carry a sleeping bag. But I'll play along and say wool. Cause you can use it right next to a fire. Try that with the modern materials and you'll end up like this:

As much as I hate Ass-Crackistan....Those thin wool blankets they make there....Nearly thin as a sheet... See pictures of those goat herders wearing them over their shoulder.... Is the best blanket I have ever...ever...ever...used. I have had two of them since 2002 and take them on every trip I ever take...even business trips to use in hotels...

They don't itch.....they don't come off of you during the night....they keep you warm...and they cover my full body...unlike U.S. Army blankets

AWESOME!!!!2970
