I don't know how many members or lurkers are following this, but the recent rains in CA have brought the Oroville dam spillway to its limit.
Evacuations of the area have been ordered in expectation of the dam's complete failure.

You get a better picture of the potential for true disaster when you look at the site with Google satellite view

Dam! That would be scary. Can't fight water.

Look on the positive side. They are saying the flood waters could even flood Sacramento. Think of all the California residents that do not get flooded out and how awesome it will be for them if their state government is forced to shut down for a few weeks due to flooding. Maybe the floods will even wash Governor Moonbeam out to sea!

My brother lived in both Oroville and below in Marysville. Thankfully he's back in Southern California now. I really hope no one gets hurt or loses property but, as Inor stated, if the entire CA legislature gets wiped out no big loss. I'd be otay with it.

POLITICS ASIDE, I don't think the residents of Oroville would see any "positive" side to this.

Start soaking those illegal immigrants feet in concrete, and drop their asses in the side that needs shoring up.

Decades of $$$$ spent for moonbeam projects, . . . ignorance, . . . stupidity, . . . illegal aliens, . . . etc.

Decades of decadent and even criminal indifference to what was going on up there (it's been operating under temporary licenses for several decades I've heard).

Now, . . . "OHHHH, . . . SOMEBODY, . . . ANYBODY, . . . SOMEWHERE, . . . ANYWHERE, . . . help us".

Sorry, . . . while I feel sorry for the people, . . . I'm not able to get too worked up. They put in that type of government, politicians, . . . now they can just evacuate and go live with their in-laws.

I have little sympathy or empathy for those who bring crap down on their own heads, . . . then wring their hands, . . . expecting someone else to clean up the mess.

And that doesn't say one word about the size of a person's mental capacity who would be dumb enough to move into a place that would be threatened by such a dam.

There was a huge earthen dam back in 1972 that busted, . . . in West Virginia, . . . killed over 100 people, . . . forever cured me of wanting to live downstream of a major dam, . . . and I had ample opportunities to do just exactly that.

May God bless,
Dwight

Just imagin how strong they could have built that damn, and the regular maintenance that could have been done to it, for the amount of money that Commifornia spends on illegal aliens.

Everyone wants to go immediately to the "Oh the poor folks at Risk"...those affected..etc....Look if you see people not holding their local city, county and state government to account for not keeping up with infrastructure, controlled burning, and other disaster preparations....then I say screw em. California citizens have allowed this to happen...they reap what they sew. I don't want to hear about the out numbered conservatives...you live there...you play by their silly rules...suck it up butter cup.otherwise...move the hell out of Commie fornia.

OK, here is a new point of ignorance...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/la-me-ln-san-jose-floods-20170222-story.html

“If the first time a resident is aware that they need to get out of a home is when they see a firefighter in a boat, then clearly there has been a failure,” said San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. “There is no question that we’ll need to do things differently next time.”

If a person has to wait until a boat pulls up to their door to know when to leave....thats some dumbass people...It was raining for two weeks...don't they watch the weather?????

I posted a link which has a YouTube video showing aerial footage of the Oroville Dam spillway. That is not getting fixed anytime soon. Wow!
