Fruit flies are attracted to the smell of vinegar, and the dish soap breaks the surface tension of the vinegar. The flies drown.
Buoyed with this success, I started looking into other homemade pest traps and learned there are many simple and nontoxic options to control unwanted insects. https://www.backwoodshome.com/homemade-pest-traps/

And of course there is the 5 gallon bucket, I'm sure we all have one that we don't have a lid for so we can't use it for prepping food, so fill it about 1/3 full of water, I like to put a little oil (or soap) on top, not used auto oil. Use soda bottle, hole drilled in the bottom, a dowel thru that, and a couple of holes in the top of the bucket so you can insert the dowel thru with the bottle in the center of the bucket, smear PB on the soda bottle, use a piece of scrap lumber for the mice to run up to the top of the bucket, they will jump to the bottle, and fall into the oily water, works better than just one bite.

If you have ants, . . . dust some powdered cinnamon where you see them, . . . leave it a couple of days, . . .
They'll go, . . . and so far they ain't been back here.
May God bless,
Dwight
