This is the area I grew up and still live in. When I was a kid Apopka was the end of civilization and after here you were in the woods. The springs, river, woods and swamps were my playground. Shortly after school got out for the summer in 1983, my buddy and I were bored and grabbed a canoe and headed down the Wekiwa. It was early afternoon and my buddy says I have a joint to smoke. The river was crowded so we found a backwater and paddled down it until we beached the canoe in the muck. My buddy fires it up and immediately starts to cough. With this, this ruckus erupts about 20 yards to my right and this ****ing thing jumps out of a palmetto and runs on two feet crashing deeper into the swamp. Now when I say thing I mean a 6'+ long matted reddish brown hair, built like a bodybuilder but beefier. It was fast. It must have covered 100 yards in what seemed like seconds. We looked at each other and what the **** was that?! So being the typical stupid kids, we decide to check it out rather than get the hell outta dodge. We walk the short distance to where the thing took off from. Then the stench hit. It was like a wet dog rolled in roadkill, after losing a battle with a skunk at the dump on a hot and humid August day just after it rained. Coming from the palmetto to the swamp were the foot prints. 5 toed about 16" in length footprints. The funny thing is I wasn't scared yet, when I saw the depth of the prints and looked at how shallow my prints were, is the moment the flight mechanism kicked in. These prints were close to 2" deep and our prints were about 1/2" deep. The one thing that still stands out to this day is how long the body looked in relation to the legs. Here is my encounter as posted at a couple of other sites. I didn't talk about this for a long time as I just didn't know what to think about it. I didn't hang around to see what it was.


More than a decade ago I was fishing from the bank of the Falls Reservoir at the boat launch and heard noises in the woods behind me and to my left. I got a maglite from my truck and started to sweep the light back and forth in the woods to find what was making the sounds when something let out a growl so powerful that I could almost feel it.

I got into my truck and backed around with the bright lights on shining them into the woods for a moment and didn't see anything so I left the lights on and got out with the maglite and kept looking but now I could hear something crashing thru the trees moving to the left. It sounded like it was circling around towards the bank and the thought crossed my mind that it might be trying to get closer to me before coming out of the trees so I got in my truck and left.

Whatever it was it made noises like no creature that is known to exist here. It was large and powerful enough to break trees and limbs and to make quite a rucus in the woods. The closest sound that I have found to what I heard was the growl of a silverback gorilla. There are coyotes here and someone will see a black bear occasionally but nothing to explain what I heard.

In my conversations with others who claims to have encountered them in the area there was probably more than one that night and one was getting my attention while the others were flanking me. He believes that I did the right thing to get out of there even though I was armed.

I went back there last year with neighbors to fish in the daylight and it has changed a lot. The state has done some more paving and right before the road gets to the reservoir it splits and the new fork leads into Morrow Mtn. It's a good ways back thru wood lands that are mostly owned by Alcoa I believe. Just north of Morrow Mtn State Park and across the reservoir from Uwharrie National Forrest.

This is probably less than 30 miles from the zoo in Ashboro NC but I've never heard of a gorilla escape from there. Others have reported sightings in the area but since I didn't hang around to see it I don't claim to know for sure what it was.

There’s been another bigfoot sighting recently, and like always we want to hear what you think.

This one comes out of Round Rock, Texas, and the video was taken by a couple of local teenagers who apparently got a tip of some enormous footprints found on one of the trails, so they decided to go exploring.

Yes, I could be convicted of murder/manslaughter, if it is a prankster. But, I think that it would be easy, to distinguish the real from the fake.
Not too many pranksters are 8 or 9 feet tall, or weigh 400-500 ibs., so even if I put it between the eyes, it may be a fake head.

If the fool is walking around in the woods, in a Bigfoot costume, there would be a case for self-defense. A claim could be made that I did not know what it was.
The law is not cut an dried on killing, and that is where jury trials come into play. Anyone that is stupid enough to put on a Bigfoot costume, would be culpable in his own death.
