Hey WT.

The Atlanta Braves and The St. Louis Cards are my two favorite teams. Lived in St. Louis back in the 80's...one of the best starting lineups in baseball in the 80's
Outfielders were Vince Coleman OF, Willie ET McGee OF, Jim Lindeman OF
Infield was Terry Pendleton 3B Jack Clark 1B, Tommy Herr 2B, Ozzie Smith SS,
Tony Pena C behind the plate.
And a solid pitching staff. Knew a guy who knew Joe Magrane and we drank beers together at one of the bars downtown. Magrane cracked us up when he told us he had stacks of uncashed paychecks in his apartment! (Before the days of direct deposit. HA!)

I love the Atlanta Braves and the St Louis Cardinals... The only two teams the Minnesota Twins have ever defeated in the World Series! :biglaugh: Just sayin'.

Excellent point Inor! Thanks for bringing that up. Mrs Slippy was able to score a couple of tickets to one of the 1987 World Series games against the Twinkies. I was travelling in Chitown and tried to get to old Busch to see the game. I got caught in the biggest traffic jam on the Eisenhower I've ever seen so Mrs Slippy went with one of her friends. She still bring that up to me! I've never been to a World Series game but I've been to 26 Major League ballparks!

Frankie Viola had a series and Kirby Pucket was a joy to watch. Who was the fat phucker who played 1st? Kent Krbek or some such name?

Kent Hrbek. He was 3 years older than me and went to the same high school I went to. He was the one that got death threats in the '91 series after he pulled the Atlanta runner's foot off the bag and the ump called him out. I do not remember who the Atlanta runner was. But that one play changed the whole '91 series.

I still think that '91 series against the Braves was the best World Series of my lifetime, until a few years ago with the Series between the Rangers and the Cards.
