When I had our well drilled for the home we are building now, I told the well driller that we wanted it dowsed. It must have worked since they found water in the middle of the desert. It cost me an extra $100, but I got water.

He claimed to be an Apache, but I do not think he was.

When we had the well drilled on our place... The local company (Family Bidness) had grandpa come out and dowse before they drilled. He found water... on an Island in the middle of two rivers.:D

I seen a guy do it once when I was a kid. He explained it to me and let me try it but I never figured it out. He found water on a wooded hillside though. Seems like I remember him saying he used sycamore branches

What I ment was, what method did he use...

I paid for a dowser, seller paid for another dowser...

1st one was there before we arrived, drew a map of the property, drew veins of aquafier on said map, used a pendulum on it tell me where to drill, and how deep. Owner/Seller asked about another place up closer to his house and he said nope, no water here, another guy bought land a few hundred yards further, drilled a well, rock...

2nd one showed up with a mesquite branch, she looked Indian (what do they know), said the branch had to be from a fruit tree, and since mesquite trees had beans they were fruit trees... OK I'm backing slowly away, and then she asked where I was going to put my septic and leach field, I told her, duh where the well isn't... needless to say, even if the first one was weird, that was who I chose.

I have no idea which method they used. But they found water on the first hole.
