Would you really like to know how to make a still? A DIY still certainly has its uses.

Don’t you just hate it when you find yourself on a desert island with nothing but 20 feet of refrigerator coil, a 5-gallon bucket, and a stove? https://diyprojects.com/make-still-diy/

Cheap as long as it works is a good thing.

The issue with using an aluminum boiler is, alcohol vapor will corrode and pit the aluminum. Your best bet is to use either stainless or copper. I've been pondering using one of those food grade, chemical resistant poly tubs with a water heater element.

Heck, I bought a cheap distiller from Amazon. I did a review on it here. The one I bought was the smallest one made by this company. They make larger ones. The reason I bought the small one is so I could carry it in my INCH pack. It never hurts to ever extra pots and pans. These were lightweight and stainless steel. I tested my distiller with my electric stove, a temperature adjusting TDS solids water tester, and my tap water. My tap water started out around 800 ppm. I reduced it to around 25 ppm in a rush crude experiment. I am sure I could have done much better if I took my time. I probably would not use that design for alcohol though.
