Vietnam U.S. Army Veteran Spc. 5 James C. McCloughan of South Haven, Michigan will be the first Medal of Honor recipient decorated by President Donald Trump.

A combat medic in the 196th Light Infantry Brigade, McCloughan distinguished himself over the course of a three-day battle with near Nui Yon Hill in Vietnam in May 1969. As detailed in the Congressional Record, though wounded himself early in the battle, McCloughan refused to be medevacked out of the fighting and ran through enemy fire on no less than nine occasions to help recover wounded members of his company. http://www.guns.com/2017/06/14/trumps-first-medal-of-honor-recipient-braved-fire-to-save-10-men-videos/

This is very similar to the guy (Desmond Doss), who's story was told in Hacksaw Ridge, a conscientious objector Army medic, who rescued 74 men under terrible enemy fire in Okinawa just before the Japs surrendered. He too received the Medal Of Honor.

As detailed by the Army, in the final stages of the battle, McCloughan not only tended the wounded and concentrated on saving lives but also helped his embattled unit — a force of 89 facing an estimated 700 Viet Cong — fight, on one occasion knocking out an RPG position with a grenade.

Awarded the Bronze Star in 1970, members of McCloughan’s unit petitioned to have his actions reevaluated in 2015, which led to the Medal of Honor being authorized last year.

Quite a guy, he deserves the Medal Of Honor. Why did it take so long? I don't know, but there is a lot of envy in The Army sometimes, since not everyone is brave. And that might have played a part, the MOH is as high as it gets.

they get a medal for risking their own lives and yet many more have done the same or even more but never will get a thank you which is sad
now that being said ,how the hell dose the tranny bruce jenner gets a women of the year award when not even been a *cough* female when HE has not even been a female for a year
and don't forget he got a award for bravery because he came out of the closet as a freak?
and don't also forget he hit and run with a car and was to scared to stay there when the police arrive.

damn shame they give any snowflake a award but those like military or law enforcement and firefighters get shit
