Advise freom friends on transplanting starters.

    hello,
the wife started bunch of seeds this year, in small cups on the kitchen table.
When they get ready, she is transplanting them into the raised beds I built her.
Only about half are "taking', some just wither away.
Also, the dirt we purchased this year seems to have more damn sticks and wood pieces than dirt.
I will try to get some pictures tonight.

This may be the cause of the death rate you are experiencing.

Indoor starters must be acclimated to the bright hot sun over a few days before moving them permanently outdoors the shock from piss poor lite indoors to the blazing hot ass sun outdoors will kill them.

So what we do is take them out for a few hours at a time for a few days before planting outside permanently.

I just germinated the seeds indoors, then put them in 6" containers and left them under the table for a week or so.

    ha, ok next question.
The wife had some gourd seeds.
The destructions say to "nick the seed kernel" then plant.
I have them soaking, in nicked, in wet paper towel layers?
Should pop today or tomorrow I hope, if not, I will have to buy more.
