People pay more than that for boats and RV's they use twice a year.

That would be a loonng bugout to make it to that shelter.
If they could build it where you want it, it could have value (esp. as a mancave)
BAH FUCKING HUMBUG!
Those are just east of Rapid City South Dakota on Ellsworth AFB.....and a nuke target....big negative IMO. I don't worry about a nuclear war anyway...I'm going out with the eruption of the Yellowstone Super Volcano.

“Bug out” to a shelter that you share with 6000 to 10,000 strangers? No thank you.

That's an old military ammo bunker.
There was a bunch of those south of what is now Palm Beach International Airport (Trump's home strip), left over from WWII.
They used to hold bombs for the coastal patrol aircraft that went looking for German U Boats.
In the late 60's and early 70's there were some great parties there. Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. But of course, I wouldn't know anything about that.

I would just build my own sand bag shelter. Way cheaper. That reminds me I need to get started on mine. All one needs is sand bags, barbed wire, and dirt. They are typically built like igloos with a row or two of barbed wire to hold each layer together. Those shelters are incredibly strong. The only thing is the bags need to be covered with dirt as they have a shelf life as far as how much UV light they can handle. The advantage is that they can be made smaller and hidden easier.
