Ive used a cracked handle on a split maul for 20 years. Just wrapped once in a while with duct tape.
The vid is a good Idea!

We were having issues like this at arfcom, with pics that were not originals on the posters computer. The firewall was kicking them off, since some of the second hand pics had malware in them that was hard to spot. So anything that is not from a member gets a special picture frame around it.
Maybe some of the picture frame stuff from arf is causing the issue?/

He lost me when he welded the hatchet head on the steel pipe. Yeah it'll work but it's ugly as hell. I'd rather he took 10 minutes and roughed a handle out of a tree branch. Making hatchet handles isn't all that complicated and can be done with a very modest tool kit, hell a pocket knife and a folding saw will get it done if you had to but a draw knife and a spoke shave will make a really nice handle.

I have spokes shaves and rasps, but I used a 4 1/2" disco grinder after I got bored with the file.

We used to put in a few wood screws and wrap electrical tape to keep from buying new baseball bats.
