Pennsylvania sunday hunting expansion bill on the move

A bill that does away with a historic ban on Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania and opens at least some days to sportsmen has passed the state Senate.

The legislation, SB 147, was approved 36-14 last week and now heads to the Pennsylvania House for further consideration. The move would legalize hunting on at least three Sundays throughout the year which is three more than what the Commonwealth has currently.

    The bill,

I never understood that Sunday hunting ban. Most folks have 40 hours a week jobs with weekends off and kids in school have weekends off as well. Weekends are the only times most folks have to hunt. The State is screwing hunters out of half their hunting time.
Ranks right up there with South Dakota's law where pheasant hunting doesn't open until NOON. WTF? Supposedly so hunters don't bother the Farmers when they're doing chores in the morning. Another stupid fossil of a law that needs to go away.

When I was a kid there was no Sunday hunting on private land. But you could hunt on Sunday on State land go figure.

That eventually changed as somebody woke the idiots up to how stupid that was.

I hear you Hawg. Doesn't Pennsylvania still ban semi-auto rifles for hunting, but semi-auto shotguns are OK? Another stupid law if it's still in effect.

I know that Ohio is shotgun only or was.... and I believe Pennsylvania was similar.

Ohio added straight wall cartridge rifles for hunting about 4 years ago so they do have rifle hunting now, unless that has changed.
