    Got security cams?.

Bought a wireless set-up from amazon.chink of course.it's a Hisseu 8 cam wireless set-up.just plug power source into wall and it's plug and play $230.00.1tb hd in it.
did not want battery power though, bummer about that?.hole thru wall to power it up,bought extension power cables.all sealed though.works pretty good for the money.can send to phones but we are not gonna do that.was a 4 cam system but can add extras.we are up to six strategically placed cams now.
our old 35 in tv on wall is our monitor.

    Anybody else have a set-up?

I have IP camera's, right now just one on the front door and one over the front driveway. I have three more to setup but I've been lazy.

All of mine are POE, so I have to run network cables to each one.

We have a 8 camera set up similar to your we can but don't have it hooked up to the internet. Setup was about the same price. Ok system I can see a lot but not great detail at night. Came in handy when FedEx said they made the delivery but they didn't. Found out they dropped it off at the wrong address about a mile from my house. Whoever got the package actually dropped it off at my house. I let the driver sweat it out for a couple of minutes before I let them know I had it.

We ran a 8 camera rig for our church, . . . all wired, . . . no "wireless" for me, . . . hate changing them batteries.

    Ours is a 1080 definition, . . . full color, . . . night vision, . . . and it really does a good job . . .

I've tried beating it and it don't give me a chance. Motion happens, . . . it comes on, . . . records.

Still got to do a better job of hiding the dvr, . . . but just one of those things that needs done.

We started talking about a camera, . . . went to talking about a couple, . . . then 4, . . . 6, . . . finally bought a 8 camera setup, . . . could have used a couple more. You just cannot get too many of them out there if you have a situation where they are ever needed.

We got it a few years back when 1080P was big stuff, . . . cost us close to 800 for the whole setup. They should be a lot less now.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

No no no no no! I will NOT have commercial security cameras (ESPECIALLY wireless) in our house! I am WAY too paranoid for that. If I cannot access the source code for the firmware to know EXACTLY what it is doing on my network, it does not run on my network! A few years ago I tested a couple of cheap IR cameras for the Raspberry Pi and I was able to get them working reasonably well. I was able to turn them on and off with a motion sensor. The problem was two-fold, the image quality left a LOT to be desired and trying to figure out a weatherproof housing/power source for the Raspberry Pi.

I do need to revisit that project because the last time I played with it was about 4 years ago. I am sure the cameras have improved dramatically since. If I can get decent IR cameras at a decent price that can be driven by a Pi-zero, I am pretty sure I can figure out a solution to the power and weather protection.

The software/hardware motion capture is garbage on anything except the $1k camera's. I just set my camera's for a limit on my NVR and let them overwrite, then set the sensitive on the slightly sensitive side. It works out pretty well, my camera's start recording before the motion lights kick on.

I also have a commercial firewall in my house to block my traffic and only open ports specific for the camera's.

I have been running the ring Security cam and Arlo to good effect. The Ring security cam is over the driveway providing both light and a camera that looks down a mostly blind driveway. That has worked well for me. The Arlo system is a work in progress but has possibilities. With the cameras, along with the security system, there is not much that happens around my house that I don't see.

I resisted cameras for a long time. Didn't like the idea, but I travel a lot and the wife is home by herself so that gives a measure of comfort and it has grown on me. Wife also didn't like it but when I told her she could turn the cameras off when she is sneaking her boyfriends in she warmed to the idea. Surprising to see how much activity there actually is when your not home. Some of it mundane, some, not so much.

At night it makes up for the fact that I don't have a dog. I had to put my old faithful friend down a few years back and haven't had the heart to go find and train another dog. Maybe it's time to consider a good dog again. I knew everything that was happening when she was alive.

Cant remember name brand, but I have a four pack from Walmart. Wired for 110 Volts, so yes, you have to drill holes somewhere..
I haven't hooked it up at the new house, and its been almost 1 and 1/2 years,,UGH.
I need to put up at least two. maybe three, I would like one pointed at porch, back door, garage door, and safes, ugh. Four I guess.
Lorex. That was the name brand, and like OP stated, I think it was about 230$ for everything.
Pretty decent images, need to set it up and call since I forgot the password.
