Will have to try basil sometime! My go-to is blk pepper & fresh dill; sometimes a little mustard.

Made these Saturday with a new pepper I decided to plant for a trial this year. The Goliath Jalapeno. The pepper is a bust as far as a jalapeno. Its huge for sure when allowed to grow to maturity but there is NO jalapeno flavor or heat whats so ever. More like a bell shaped jalapeno. It did work well stuffed with ground porterhouse steak mixed with mozzarella cheese and some steak sauce and misc seasonings. Since this was a first attempt I went easy on spices. If I do it again I will add more spice especially more smoked garlic. Click image for larger version.

They were good. I finished off the mixture in another bunch for lunch. This time I added a little more smoked garlic and some of Hawgriders wild leeks that I had ground up. They were even better this time. I just wish the peppers tasted more like jalapenos and some heat to boot!

Baked meat ravioli with meat sauce from The Italian Village in the West Loop, Chicago.

In my arrogant opinion, this place has the best Dego food in North America. Not even the famous places on Mulberry Street in NYC can touch it for food quality. Having a meal at the Italian Village is about the only redeeming quality of having to spend a week in Chicago.
