    New speer gold dot carrygun ammo designed for short-barreled pistols

    Idaho-based Speer last week introduced a new series of G2 Gold Dot loads specifically optimized for short-barreled or backup-sized pistols.

    The first three new Gold Dot CarryGun offerings will include a 135-grain 9mm G2 HP, a 165-grain .40 S&W load, and a 200-grain .45 Auto +P. For those familiar with Speer’s other offerings, the CarryGun loads use lighter bullets than are typically found in the Gold Dot line. For instance, the typical G2 Gold Dot in 9mm is a 147-grain bullet while the .40 is a 180-grain pill and the usual .45 weighs in at 230-grains.

    I should try some of their 9mm in my Springfield EMP. See how it performs VS Hornady Critical defense.

    Gold Dots have the jacket bonded to the lead. Critical Defense does not.
