    A day of Reflection

Ok friends. I struggle these days. Not out of any sense of victimization or even as a survivor of anything. I struggle with the idea that it may not have been worth it.

I grew up in the 70's, reading stories of Korean and Vietnam vets and feeling like I wish I had been there then. Now here I am. 52 yrs old. I served in Desert Shield/Storm, Intrinsic Action, OIF, and everywhere else. I have been deploying every year since 2002-2017.

I stopped fearing death in 2005 and started fearing it again in 2015...now I just don't care.

The point of the post is this....when half of America is not worth saving, where do we say that its not worth it. Now I love my Countrymen. But I don;t see them anywhere...Its people who bend a knee to social justice and/or try to play nice and say "Oh I understand".

In my world...you love what we stand for...or you hate what we stand for...the bad guy is politicians....and if you don;t see that...then your a bad guy by default

So on the 19th year since 9/11 I say this.... I don't care anymore....I can be a really good guy, or I can be a really good bad guy....So call me a racist, one more time,,,,,and let see the dance we do.....

I struggled with the same question for years.

Like you, I lost years overseas, years away from my wife and kids, and it is probably the main contributing factor to my failing marriage and for what?

    To be called a racist?
To be told my time didn't "count" by employers?
To be told I'm a monster?
To be crapped on by the politicians who sent us over there?

I see these spoiled brats in the street, acting like the terrorists and . . . I don't have it in me anymore.

I can be a cruel bastard when I have to be and I'm finding less reasons everyday to hold that part back.

Then again, maybe that's what this country needs?

I feel ya and you're not alone, but it sure does seem like it more and more.

It is treason against mankind to hold a knife to a man’s throat and dictate how he must live his life."

What I hate most is that you, OSFG, and many many other Great Men fought for my FREEDOM and generations of evil politicians extorted my tax dollars and gave my FREEDOM away...

There is a lot of commonality in you and me . . .

My answer is simple . . . I'm 75+ . . . cannot hump the weeds any more . . . but I can darn sure pick off those who need it out to about 400 yds . . . then I need to get my scope sight.

I'm sitting on the 10 acres I worked and paid for . . . pay my taxes . . . and kind have that "get off my lawn" attitude from one of my favorite ol actors.

I've also got enough ammo and arms here at my place that it could be a serious firefight if they decide to come down my driveway . . . yelling for this white boy to get out of my house because some black dude thinks he is more deserving or some such garbage.

Anyway . . . hope it don't come down to it . . . but if the commies and socialists want to make a fight of it . . . stop by my place first . . . I'll save the next guy a bunch of ammo.

    May God bless,
    Dwight
If you can breathe, . . . thank God.

If you can read, . . . thank a teacher.

If you can read in English, . . . thank a veteran.

Same up here brother though I am 52 like OSFG. But we can and will face anyone who wants what we worked hard for here on the 45th Parallel. Though those lazy libtards and hippies are not fond of the large amounts of snow we get.

I no longer like the large amounts of snow you get; that's why I moved south!

As for the hippies, libtards and looters (actually they are one and the same aren't they?), let them burn their damn cities to the ground! I also don't care anymore. There is nothing in the city worth saving anyway. But also do not lose hope. There are whole lot more guys like us than there are weirdos like them. And then there are a whole lot of people that do not even know what day it is and think BLM and antifa are just hip new probiotic laxatives.

And when the shit finally gets you to the point where you are ready to throw in the towel... Don't. Just Go Galt. Leave their chaos behind and just build your life the way you want it, on YOUR terms. Only interact with them when you want to (or need to) but ALWAYS on YOUR terms.

And NEVER EVER EVER forget the one cardinal absolute in all of life: They need guys like us a hell of a lot more than we need them! WE own our minds and never let them forget it! Now kiss my ass!

    These are my feelings too.
I enlisted in 1967 out of a sense of duty to country.
At a time when that was not very popular.

I volunteered for a tour in Vietnam in 1969. Ours was a noble cause, but bankrupted by politicians, generals, and our countrymen.
My brigade was at the end of the line - short of everything but the enemy.
The news from home coupled with Army BS made us feel like orphans. We did not fight for America and the flag, we fought for each other. We were all we had.

After we got home, we found the people hated us. The country hated us. Media and Hollywood portrayed us a drug crazed baby killers.
You younger folks may not believe this, but it is true.
This is when I began to intensely dislike anyone who I did not personally know as "OK".
My distrust of, and anger at, "the government" began to grow.

Today, I have only one or two friends. I do not associate at all with non-veterans. I spend the vast majority of my life inside our homestead perimeter, behind gates that stay locked shut 24/7/365.
I do not care about political BS, with one exception - the 2nd Amendment.
I am not all worked up by the presidential election. If Joe is sworn in the country will get what it deserves.
By the same token, I do not worship Trump.
All politicians, Trump included, are pompous assholes.

I do not feel my Army service was a total waste. I made lifelong friends, real friends, guys who were willing to die for each other. That can not be found anywhere outside a combat zone. I look forward to our annual reunions.

No, OSFG, you are not alone, my friend.

At 77, I think I am the oldest guy on here (or at least close to it) and therefore have seen the most about how this country has been ruined by the left. Half the country is lost. HALF. When I was much younger, it was only about 10% at most, now it is half. I too can't go running through the forest to fight, but like someone said here, I can sure aim and hit what I aim at out to ………. well, it is a pretty good distance. I am armed to the teeth, and almost relish the idea of taking some of these asswipes down, when it comes time. And the time IS definitely coming. God bless to all that have served. God bless to my fellow submariners.
