We have cattle surrounding us and I’ve been talking with a few about beef. Interesting to say the least. I’m also finding out that ALL of my neighbors are in one form or fashion, ready for what may come.

I hear ya, but when have rural needs ever been a factor in decisions at that level?

Other than delivering for UPS/FedEx, everything you listed is encouraged to switch to online, by the providers themselves, with discounts given for "paperless" transactions. The exception would be holiday and birthday cards etc - but even those are phasing out with the younger crowd, in favor of online greetings.

I don't think USPS will be "canceled" soon (it employs too many gov workers) but I think it will happen in time.

Hey, I've got a nice electric one, but I also still rock the 'ole hand grinder as well. Tough to beat 'em, tough to kill 'em.

I've got the last of those steaks marinating for tonight. I should have got 10 more and put in the freezer. This week sirloin is $4.99/lb, still cheaper than burger, will stock up.

Chicken, boneless breasts, have jumped ~1.70/lb to $2/lb on special.

I stopped buying fish. Used to see swordfish and wild caught salmon $5-6/lb on sale , no more. I still have stash of whole wild salmon fillets stashed in the freezer.

Shellfish way up. Clams 2-3X and lobsters too.

I'm hoping my applications for extra deer tags get selected, and I'll put in for bear permit again this year.
Steaks are cheaper than burger here too... been enjoying sirloins for a month now.

I've got an old Cabelas grinder, the biggest one they made at the time....3 hp? It has reverse (must have feature) and a stuffer attachment and an add on foot pedal switch. It works great, Grinds the toughest cuts and never slows down. Now all I need is that big 6x6 bull elk this coming October.
