Even though I was prepared to route the GPS antenna out to the roof and cover it with a shark fin plastic cover -- I gave this a try --

Magnetic mount on top of the radio unit ---- sees the sat. signal through the plastic dash & windshield --



And works perfectly --

The one thing I never liked about the newer cars ---- no voltmeter ---- the idiot light is just after the fact your alternator has quit ---- at least with a gauge of some sort -- you can see it crapping out ----- so ---

Same for oil pressure and water temp. You need gauges. When the idiot light comes on, you’re the idiot that pays for the damage already done.
