    Herbal Apothecary

    And so it begins.

While studying/learning over these last months, I've been ordering in supplies - jars, bottles, scale, reference books - and yesterday the first batch of material medica (organic herbs/spices/roots) arrived; more coming next week. I have two cases of 80-proof Vodka stocked up to use as the menstrum for the tinctures; and the formulae are pretty well decided on; just a couple more things to cross-check for any contraindications. The initial focus will be on reducing inflammation, lowering PO's blood pressure, and a night-time pain relief + sleep inducer. Next up will be natural antibiotics and cold/flu remedies... in extract and syrup formats, respectively.

PO has been helping me by providing empty Jägermeister bottles; the dark green glass will be perfect for the finished products.

Yep! All the syrups will be made with raw honey - most of the cold/flu ones will have lots of garlic, some clove & ginger

Looking forward to following this thread.
My Granny used to brew yellow root tea for her stomach. She also made teas with dandelion, garlic, and sassafras.

Might want to get some books on Native Americans traditional medicinal plants. They will compliment your efforts.
