Was out to get some Staples for this week's meals, found some good deals on fresh meat buy 1 get1 free so bought and portioned it up and into the freezer. Will save me more money as the inflation and grocery prices climb.

Well, myself, I just finished yesterday, putting in a new 30,000 BTU propane heater.

Plumbed it with 3/8" black iron pipe out to the regulator and tanks.

This is my first line backup for a oil burner or power out.

It is vent less and needs no power in.

It is not to heat the whole place, just a few rooms.

It took 1-1/2 minutes to raise the temp in living room 2 degrees and shut off.

Using it now to save the oil for the real cold months and keep the pipes from freezing.

Half finished today putting a new rotor, pads, caliper and wheel brake line in one Jeep, will finish tomorrow.

Very excellent backup. What size propane tank(s) do you have?

Couple of weeks ago . . . did a beavertail and new hammer on my 5 inch 1911 . . . a solid steel .45 that shoots darn good since I put that new front end on it.

Didn't really like the trigger . . . so I sent another order in to Midway . . . for the rest of the parts to upgrade the trigger and assorted pieces to make it go BANG.

Got the parts the other day . . . sear was not "drop in" so to speak . . . took a funky little chinese file and scraped off about 10 thousands off part of it . . . the old parts are laying next to the 1911 in the picture . . . plus the hammer and beavertail.

Now it goes bang . . . the grip safety works . . . thumb safety works . . . and the trigger is sort of / kind of / almost-maybe better. Shooting tomorrow will tell the tale.

One thing for sure . . . after all the new parts . . . I can pick this thing out of a hundred similar ones.

Wish me well on the range next time.

    May God bless,
    Dwight

I am using 100 pound tanks, two on each system, one set for kitchen stove and one set for this heater.

The heater regulator is a crossover type,

runs on one tank and automatically changes over to the full one when first is empty.

Kitchen has standard type regulator, I keep one tank off until first runs out.

It takes about nine months to empty one at my cooking rate.

I do not use the stove's oven, uses way too much gas.

I also have two 100 pounders tied into my #1 use genset and two spares for whatever needs them.

After I see how the new heater works out this winter,

I may well put in a 100 gallon tank to support the heater.

The prime here is direct heat generated no intermediate stage,

it takes 4 minutes to heat the heat exchanger in the oil furnace.

That time would be used already heating rooms.

Oil will be used to keep the new water pipes from freezing, they run underneath alongside the heat ducting.

    Thanks for this!
I'm going to copy it over into my propane thread for reference. Again, thanks much!!

I have a small blue flame on the porch, and a larger one in the pole barn, both direct vent with only a battery button click needed to light the pilot, or a match.

Now I need a coffeemaker since the old one died on Monday. I've been using the old style percolator on the stove. Coffee seems better and hotter

A new electric heater for the bathroom would be nice to warm up the seat before use. The one I bought in person at Walmart last year overheated and shut off after producing little heat outward after a week.
