We are possibly going to get our first frost tonight, so we picked apples today. This is the first year we have had enough apples to do anything with. (I think the trees are 4 years old? Or is it 5?)

Regardless, we finally have enough that Mrs Inor can make some applesauce from them! I am pretty pleased with the haul since we only have 2 small apple trees.

We got the pears in about a month ago. We got 5 big grocery bags full from 2 pear trees. I let the almonds go this year as we did not have many due to some bad winds in early summer. The cherry and apricot trees have not yet started to give us fruit, maybe next year? The olives will be at least 5 more years before they start.

We have already had several frosts, but no freeze yet. I’m going to knock down the last few apples for the deer to eat. Gardens are done and cleaned out except for actually digging out the potatoes. I’m saving that job for another few weeks till things get much colder as I don’t have a root cellar and I’m waiting until the garage gets cold. I’m getting another trailer load of mushroom compost today to continue topping off the raised beds completely full. Yesterday I took 2 buckets of very old fertilizer and spread it on the grass. I bought a fresh bag to have on hand for next spring. The old stuff had attracted a lot of water and turned into a moldy mess, NASTY!
My winter prep list is getting shorter. I’m thinking one more grass mowing and that chore will be done for the year, too.

I got some canner tomatos free yesterday from a local farm.

Had a strange observation cutting them up to make sauce. Noticed some white material in some of them when I was slicing..........then some green! WTF I'd cut out all the bad spots.

Took a closer look and it was some of the seeds starting to sprout, inside the tomatoes. A few of the sprouts even started to develop leaves, the green stuff I saw.

I should have saved a few and planted them to see how they'd grow. Anybody ever seen this with tomatos?.

I wasn't worried about a few sprouts in the tomato/spaghetti sauce.

We were gifted about a bushel of big soft beefsteak looking tomatoes.I kept two for salad, then I made some mild chili for the Mrs and cooked down the rest in a stock pot with onion and green pepper for the freezer or dinner ??/

Wow. I'd be worried about what created these mutant tomatoes.

I'll ask the Farmer what variety? I got loads of outside ones from them last fall and didn't see this. They are not certified organic, so use any type seed, but they are no spray any pesticide/herbicides.

Only difference is these came out of the big greenhouse they are shutting down soon. I got a haul of free peppers too. Frost killed everything sensitive outside weeks ago, mid-low 20s oF.

    They are boiling down now........

What kind of apple trees did you plant?

More cleanup & harvesting today. The artichoke plant, which still had 4 artichokes on it! Got ripped by the winds. Some of the pepper plants also. So, harvesting everything...

To harvest all the remaining Bell, cayenne, and jalapeno peppers; And 1 more rogue, un-ripened, zucchini; Some of the Bell peppers are 7"+!!
